Sex Doll Care and Maintenance

Sex Doll Care Guide

Sex Doll Care And Maintenance - Doll in a Bathtub - Earth EroticYour doll is an investment

If you’re in the market for your first doll, you might be doing some preliminary research to decide if buying a sex doll is right for you. Part of that research includes learning about proper sex doll care and maintenance.

It can be a challenge to figure out the best ways to care for your sex doll. There are dozens of forums and websites with both anecdotal and factual articles detailing the do’s and dont’s of doll care and maintenance.

You might feel overwhelmed as you comb through article after article — one may approve the use of perfumes on your doll while another warns against it — and end up getting turned off by the conflicting advice. (By the way, don’t use perfume.)

We know that when it comes to your current (or future) sex doll, taking the right precautions when cleaning her is an essential part of ownership.

Not only will it protect you from diseases from using an improperly cleaned doll, but it will also ensure the longevity of your doll and keep her looking as good as the day you received her.

Sex dolls are an investment, and like anything else, you want to be sure you are doing all the right things to make sure you’re getting the most out of your purchase!

So whether you currently own a doll or are looking for the right one, we’ve developed this handy how-to guide so you’ll know just how to take care of your sex doll.

How Often Should I Clean My Doll?

The short answer: frequently.

In reality, you should give your doll a full-body cleaning at least once a month. And you need to clean her love holes every time you use them, whether it’s once a day or three times a day.

Use a mild antimicrobial soap to wash her. Having an irrigator helps as well since it will do a better job flushing her love holes out and ensure no soap or bacteria is left behind.

Regularly cleaning the love holes isn’t the best part of sex doll care and maintenance, but it is the most important.

Material Matters

One aspect of sex doll care and maintenance is learning about the material that makes up the doll. The amount of time it takes to clean and dry your doll depends on the material.

Dolls made from TPE cannot handle steaming hot water or the intense heat from hair dryers. It’s best to pat your doll dry with a soft, absorbent towel. Additionally, make sure the fabric isn’t dark in color, as TPE also has the potential to absorb colors and stain easily.

Silicone, on the other hand, can handle hotter temperatures and doesn’t stain as easily. But we advise steering clear from using a hair dryer still as you don’t want to risk accidentally melting your sex doll’s skin.

It’s important to learn the difference between silicone and TPE when considering buying a sex doll. You can learn about the pros and cons of each material in our other handy guide about the differences between silicone and TPE.

Washing Your Sex Doll

Perhaps the most vital part of sex doll care and maintenance is washing her thoroughly (and correctly).

Regardless of the material, you can bathe or shower with your doll — just make sure you don’t get her head wet! And again, if you have or are thinking about buying a doll made from TPE, double-check the temperature.

You can use the same antimicrobial soap on her body that you used to clean her love holes.

When you do take her to the tub or shower to wash her, we advise removing her head and keeping it separate, so you don’t accidentally damage it in any way.

Once you’ve towel-dried your doll, apply either baby powder or renewal powder to absorb any remaining moisture.

Cleaning your doll’s head

Washing your sex doll’s head is easier than you think. First, remove her wig (we’ll get to that in a moment). Use the same soap you used on the rest of her body with a warm, damp cloth and rub in circular motions.

Avoid using makeup remover to remove any eyeshadow, mascara, lipstick, etc., as it usually contains oils that her skin will absorb. You don’t necessarily need to remove her makeup, but if you do, use water and soap and take your time doing it.

Once she is nice and clean, gently pat her dry.

Taking care of your sex doll’s wig

A sex doll care and maintenance guide wouldn’t be complete with some tips for taking care of her hair!

Whether your doll’s wig is made from synthetic or human hair, it’s best to treat it as if it was real.

Try and wash your doll’s wig at least once a month. Although her body doesn’t produce sweat and oils, these particles can transfer from her surroundings (including yourself) and onto her.

First, remove her wig. To wash it, use a mild shampoo and gently work the soap into a lather. Rinse with lukewarm water until the soap is completely gone.

You don’t need to purchase a wig stand; however, we strongly recommend having one. A wig stand will help your doll’s hair dry evenly, lay how you want it to, and stay in good condition longer.

You don’t want to blow dry her wig; let it dry naturally. Once it is totally dry, use a comb and start at the ends. Gently pick at any tangles as you work your way up to the crown.

Note: Depending on the texture and style of the wig, you may need to do additional research. Curly hair should be treated differently than straight hair and may require a little more upkeep.

Storage and Safekeeping

When using your doll, use a water-based lubricant to keep her skin from tears or other damage.

Don’t leave her arms and legs open for too long. It can place stress in her joints and, again, can cause tears in her skin.

When you aren’t using your doll, keep her in a cool, dry area away from direct sunlight or extreme temperatures. You can check out our article about different ways to store your sex doll to find a method that works for you.

We also have hard storage cases available for a simple, surefire way that will keep your doll protected.

Make sure that when you move your doll from room to room that you do so with care. You don’t want to damage her in the process. Watch her head, appendages, and other joints.

Your doll helps take care of your needs. So return the favor and make sure she’s well cared for and adequately cleaned. She’ll continue being there for you for years to come.

I bet it would be so much easier to get an irrigator to clean the holes out.
